John is a Brighton-based photographer specialising in documentary and reportage photography.
After studying photography, fine art and graphic design at Goldsmiths and Ravensbourne John graduated as a professional graphic designer in 1972.
In a design career spanning over 40 years, John has worked with some of the most eminent designers of his generation.
He is a former Managing Director of the UK-based design consultancy Aukett Brockliss Guy www.abgdesign.uk.com.
John now dedicates his creative energies to his photographic projects working with Leica-M rangefinder cameras and available light. He increasingly works in black and white, focusing on long-term assignments and creative collaborations where he can explore his chosen subject and documentary stories in depth.
John is also the designer and author of four photo-
documentary books:
‘Camino, a photographic pilgrimage’, published in 2021,
‘Deanland’, published in March 2018,
‘Restless, from tempest to tranquility’, published in 2016 and
‘Archipelago, a Hebridean journey’, published in 2014.
